April 2010 Update

On March 25th, Zane Tarence (Founders Investment Banking) made a presentation to the Birmingham Venture Club entitled “Show Me the Money” – which received rave reviews. According to Zane (who is an entrepreneur-turned investor) some 8,000 private equity groups in the U.S. focus on the Middle and Large Markets. These groups have raised a stunning $400 Billion as of the end of 2009, poised for investment. This is up from $292 Billion at the end of 2006. Since Private Equity professionals have to put the money to work within specified timeframes, Zane expects there to be significant investment just by private equity groups within the next few years. My impression from seeing his data and hearing his presentation to investors and entrepreneurs is that we are in for an exciting time as we move out of the current recession. We see the same kind of trend in the job market. In our last newsletter, I noted that new positions posted to our little network were up from previous months. The trend has continued, as companies in many industries cautiously invest in new employees. Note that several of the Current Searches listed below are not posted via our website.
